Graphic/Visual Designer for Digital Learning
Contract / Project work
The ideal candidate will have strong visual design and creative skills and a portfolio of work that demonstrates their passion for designing highly engaging, interactive digital learning programs. This candidate will ideally have experience working with numerous different design tools and platforms to develop both the overall visual design vision and specific individual art assets for both digital learning programs and print-based training materials.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Use graphic design tools, including Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) and other programs to develop the visual and interactive design for digital e-learning programs as well as live/virtual training courses
- Synthesize complex systems and processes to create clear, understandable, and effective educational graphics and visual aids, representations, and diagrams (using Technical Illustration, Infographics, or similar)
- Create/choose media assets that "bring to life" content for instructional purposes; source stock imagery and/or photography for learning programs as well as for corporate marketing materials, including articles, blogs, websites
- Collaborate with instructional designers, UX/LX designers, content developers, and software engineers to define ways to transform storyboards and content scripts into interactive, visually engaging online instructional content, while ensuring clarity of learning goals and objectives
- Create templates and a library of visual and interactive elements for reuse
- Ensure the program visual design and look & feel align with our clients' branding guidelines
- Sometimes work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Build strong and successful relationships with core internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Formal graphic design education and/or training
- 5+ years creating interactive webpages or e-learning courses
- 2+ years designing instructional print material
- Experience creating visual design elements for digital learning programs as well as print-based materials used in live/virtual presentations
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Captivate, Photoshop, illustrator, etc.), Articulate 360, and other digital learning technologies and authoring tools
- Demonstrated proficiency working with instructional design documentation (design strategies, storyboards, content scripts, etc.)
- Demonstrated understanding of the course development process, adult learning theory and user-centered design principles
- Strong communication, conceptual thinking, typography skills, and graphic design skills
- Can meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage multiple projects; prioritize, multi-task, assess risk and develop mitigations
- Team player, with ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with clients and team
- Flexible, collaborative, and ability to work through ambiguity
