The Design

Live instructor-led (ILT) and eLearning versions in which participants perform an after-action review of a data-analytics engagement gone wrong by analyzing key documents and watching videos of engagement meetings. The approach helps learners discern leading practices & mindset shifts to adopt to effectively lead data analytics engagements and identify how the engagement lifecycle differs from traditional engagements.

Audience: Partners, Sr. Partners (ILT); Engagement Managers (eLearn)
Skills in Focus: Leadership; decision making; articulating rationale
Features: Train-wreck/after-action review approach; video

The Details

Based on a real-life engagement that went off-track.

Learners watch videos and explore materials relevant to key moments, discuss issues that arose, and offer management and mitigation strategies that might have helped to avoid and/or resolve the issues. As the story unfolds, new issues are revealed to further challenge participants’ thinking.

Questions raised do not have correct answers. Learners weigh their responses, justify their solutions, and compare their ideas to an expert’s. Experts share real-world stories about issues and consequences.

At the end, learners sketch out ideas for an effective data analytics engagement lifecycle and discuss how it differs from traditional engagements.
