Virtual ILT

The Client Need

"A new process was developed for handling personal conduct investigations at the firm. HR professionals and their leaders needed to be trained on the new process, without feeling like the process was updated because they were doing something wrong. We also wanted them to serve as champions of it with all employees. And since HR is all over, it needed to be virtual to be scaled quickly."

The Design

A half-day vILT with a real-world case study in which learners observe and role play various steps in the new process to gain exposure to it and their role within it; practice the more challenging skills needed to implement it properly; and serve as champions of it moving forward.

Audience: HR professionals
Skills in Focus: Handling conduct complaints according to a new process; listening empathetically; building trust with involved parties
Features: Virtual instructor-led training (vILT); immersive simulation; role-play scenarios; performance support

The Details

Learners receive pre-work to familiarize them with the new process.

Learners receive a guide that includes rationale behind the change, information about the new process, directions for group breakouts, and materials to use for pre-work, in the session, and for post-work activities.

Teams are brought directly into the simulation by assessing complaints to determine whether there is enough information to make a determination of next steps in the new process.

Role plays occur in the full group with scripts for facilitators to play specific characters to familiarize learners with their new roles and to practice listening empathetically and building trust.
