Greg Saunders, Ph.D.

For more than 20 years, Dr. Saunders has been designing and building award-winning tools to facilitate courseware that's story-centered and learn-by-doing, including the creation of several simulation engines. He is responsible for all aspects of technology, including database, website, and mobile platform development. Dr. Saunders developed the 2021 Brandon Hall award-winning Dynamic Scene Adapter™ tool.

Dr. Saunders previously held positions in academia, including research assistant professor for the Institute for the Learning Sciences at Northwestern University, and senior learning scientist at Carnegie Mellon University, where he worked on course technology for Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley. Prior to that he was senior vice president of software engineering at Cognitive Arts Corporation, where he oversaw a team of engineers responsible for building courses for various Fortune 500 clients.

Dr. Saunders began his studies at The Ohio State University, earning a B.S. in mathematics and graduating summa cum laude. He went on to earn his Ph.D. in Computer Science, studying artificial intelligence and connectionism, a precursor to today's large-language models. His dissertation on "The Evolution of Communication in Adaptive Agents" explored ways that connectionist models could learn to convey information in surprising ways.
